The Chimera on a red-figureApulian plate, c. 350–340 BC (Musée du Louvre)
The Chimera, also Chimaera; Greek:Χίμαιρα, Chímaira) was, according to Greek mythology, a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of more than one animal. It is usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat arising from its back, and a tail that might end with a snake's head, and was one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna and a sibling of such monsters asCerberus and the Lernaean Hydra.

The bronze "Chimera of Arezzo" is one of the best known examples of the art of the Etruscans.Court intellectuals of the time considered the Chimera of Arezzo to be a symbol of the Medici domination of the grand duchy. The Chimera is still conserved inFlorence, now in the Archaeological Museum. It is approximately 80 cm in height.

"Pensar de tarde en tarde en Sherlock Holmes es una
de las buenas costumbres que nos quedan. La muerte

“It is well said, then, that it is by doing just acts that the just man is produced, and by doing temperate acts the temperate man; without doing these no one would have even a prospect of becoming good. But most people do not do these, but take refuge in theory and think they are being philosophers and will become good in this way, behaving somewhat like patients who listen attentively to their doctors, but do none of the things they are ordered to do. As the latter will not be made well in body by such a course of treatment, the former will not be made well in soul by such a course of philosophy. The Jaivana  cannon is a large 18th-century weapon. It was cast in 1720, by Jai Singh II of Jaipur the administrator ofJaigarh Fort during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah. The formidable strength of its builder, the scientifically inclined warrior Sawai Jai Singh II, lay in the large number of artillery and copious supply of munitions which he maintained. Four elephants were used to swivel it around on its axis. Now it is located at the Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur (India)

Cannon foundry

During the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, Jaigarh Fort, which is located 150 miles south-west of Delhi, became one of the world's most efficient cannon foundries mainly due to the abundance of iron ore mines in the vicinity of the fort. The cannon foundry Jaigarh Fort had a massive wind tunnel that sucked air from the high mountains into its furnace creating temperatures as high as 2400 °F, the heated air would melt the metal. The liquid molten metal would fill a reservoir chamber and into a cannon mold in the casting pit. Most of those cannons were massive, mostly 16 ft long and had to be prepared within a single day. The Rajput also built a large ingenious mechanical device that had a precision gear system driven by four pairs of oxen, the device was used for hollowing out the cannon barrels. When the Mughal war of succession broke out in 1658 Dara Shikoh secured the cannon outpost of Jaigarh Fort until he was defeated and executed by his younger brother Aurangzeb. Later however, the Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah appointed Jai Singh II as the official MughalQiladar of Jaigarh Fort according to a Firman, ultimately Jai Singh II is known to have molded the great Jaivana Cannon by utilizing the important foundry and devices inside Jaigarh Fort.

James 1:2
"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;"

"But no chain is stronger than its weakest link."~~~ Sir Arthur Conan Doyle: Sherlock Holmes: The Valley of Fear: Ch.1 The Warning

"All knowledge comes useful to the detective," remarked Holmes.
"Even the trivial fact that in the year 1865 a picture by Greuze
entitled La Jeune Fille a l'Agneau fetched one million two
hundred thousand francs--more than forty thousand pounds--at the
Portalis sale may start a train of reflection in your mind."

"Six thousand a year. That's paying for brains, you see--the
American business principle. I learned that detail quite by
chance. It's more than the Prime Minister gets. That gives you
an idea of Moriarty's gains and of the scale on which he works.
Another point: I made it my business to hunt down some of
Moriarty's checks lately--just common innocent checks that he
pays his household bills with. They were drawn on six different
banks. Does that make any impression on your mind?"~~~The Valley of Fear. Ch2
