Jaguar Baby

 

 Esta magnífica escultura prehispánica representa a un "bebé-jaguar" (u hombre-jaguar), una de las obras más enigmáticas y representativas de la cultura olmeca.

La figura combina rasgos anatómicos de un niño o bebé (cuerpo regordete, posición sentada) con rasgos felinos de jaguar, tales como comisuras bucales arqueadas hacia abajo, colmillos expuestos y ojos almendrados.

En la parte superior de la cabeza se observa una profunda hendidura en forma de "V". Para los olmecas, esta característica simbolizaba el eje del mundo, el nacimiento del dios del maíz o un canal de comunicación espiritual y fertilidad.

El jaguar era el animal más sagrado del México antiguo, fuertemente vinculado a la tierra, el inframundo, el agua y el poder político de los gobernantes. Estas figuras solían usarse en ceremonias propiciatorias de lluvia y renovación agrícola.

Mount Rainier (also known as Tahoma or Tacoma) glows blue and red on the evening of September 6th, 2020. This is the northwestern slope seen from the window of a Cessna 172. The mountain's snow and ice is low at the end of the summer.

Diamond Dogs is the eighth studio album by the English musician David Bowie, released on 24 May 1974 by RCA Records. Thematically, it was a marriage of the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell and Bowie's own glam-tinged vision of a post-apocalyptic world. Bowie had wanted to make a theatrical production of Orwell's book and began writing material after completing sessions for his 1973 album Pin Ups, but the author's estate denied the rights. The songs wound up on the second half of Diamond Dogs instead where, as the titles indicated, the Nineteen Eighty-Four theme was prominent.

Ziggy was seen to be still very much alive in Diamond Dogs, as evident from Bowie's haircut on the cover and the glam-trash style of the first single "Rebel Rebel".
