Black Thursday, February 6th. 1851, as depicted by William Strutt in 1864
The Black Thursday bushfires were a devastating series of fires that swept the state of Victoria, Australia on 6 February 1851. They are considered the largest Australian bushfires in a populous region in recorded history, with approximately 5 million hectares, or a quarter of Victoria, being burnt. Twelve human lives were lost, along with one million sheep, thousands of cattle and countless native animals.

Sobek And Horus This obelisk, standing near the entrance to the Kom Ombo Temple has illustrations of the two gods to which the temple is dedicated - Sobek, above; Horus, below. Sobek was a cult god in this area of Egypt, and it seems likely that this temple was erected here as nearby sand-banks were a favourite basking ground for crocodiles.

Lateranense in Rome, the largest standing ancient Egyptian obelisk in the world. Originally from the temple of Amun in Karnak.map Brought to Alexandria with another obelisk by Constantius II, and brought on its own from there to Rome in 357 to decorate the spina of the Circus Maximus.

The Venus de Milo (Greek: Αφροδίτη της Μήλου, Aphroditi tis Milou) is an ancient Greek statue and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture. Initially it was attributed to the sculptor Praxiteles, but based on an inscription that was on its plinth, the statue is now thought to be the work of Alexandros of Antioch
