Corvin Castle : Corvinesti Castle : Castelul Corvinilor

Romania's collection of castles and fortresses perhaps best illustrates the rich medieval heritage of the country. While castles built from the 14th to the 18th centuries are strong and austere fortresses built mainly for defense against invaders, those erected beginning in the late 1800s are imposing and luxurious. The most popular include the 14th century Corvinesti Castle, built on the site of a former Roman camp, the elegant 19th century Peles Castle with its 160 rooms filled with priceless European art and, of course, the Bran Castle, built in the mid-1300s and

legendary home to Bram Stoker's Count Dracula.

As a result of almost nine centuries of Saxon presence, Transylvania, located in central Romania, claims a cultural and architectural heritage unique in Europe. This region is home to nearly 200 Saxon villages, churches and fortifications built between the 13th and 15th centuries. Seven of the fortified Saxon churches (in Biertan, Calnic, Darjiu, Prejmer, Saschiz, Valea Viilor, and Viscri) were designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. A visit to these quaint villages, placed amidst lush farmland and green rolling hills, will give you a taste of the long-gone medieval times.

Pablo Picasso

"(Diego) Ordaz' s next exploit was to climb the volcano Popocatépetl and he was able from that height to observe and, later, describe the beautiful site of Mexico/Tenochtitlan on its lake. It was the first mountain ascended in the Americas. The Spaniards, therefore, knew which route to take to the Mexican capital. Understandably, Ordaz took a volcano as his coat of arms. He lost a finger in the fighting 'on the bridges' in 1520."--- Hugh Thomas : THE AGE OF GOLD.Book I Valladolid and Rome. Ch.14 Ordaz on the Orinoco; Heredia at Cartagena

Luke 12:13
"And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me."
Prov.23:5
"Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven."

Mary Ellen Moore-Richard, American Indian Memoirist, Dies at 58

"Violence on the reservation continued long after the occupation; her close friend and fellow AIM member Anna Mae Pictou Aquash was found dead in 1976.
“The police said that she had died of exposure, but there was a .38-caliber slug in her head,” Ms. Moore-Richard wrote in 1990.
In 2004, an AIM member, Arlo Looking Cloud, was convicted of killing Ms. Aquash. Prosecutors said AIM members believed that Ms. Aquash had been spying on AIM for the F.B.I."
